Mediation Services
What is mediation?
Mediation is a process that can help willing parties reach an agreement with the assistance of a neutral third party, a mediator. Mediation can be an excellent process to resolve many types of disputes* and is often a far quicker and cheaper alternative than going to Court.
Our qualifications – At Hawkins Legal & Mediation Services (HLMS) our mediator, Sam, is also a lawyer who has worked in a broad range of legal areas dealing with many types of disputes.
Our fees – $2,500.00
What is included:
- Pre-mediation conference – a pre-mediation conference is held individually with the disputing parties (a conference can be held with employers also if the mediation concerns a workplace dispute). (Up to 1.5 hours in total)
- Mediation – a mediation session is conducted by video conferencing or in person with the parties in dispute. (Up to 3 hours)
- Written agreement – parties are provided with a written agreement, where relevant. For workplace disputes, a short report can be provided.
- Post mediation follow up – a debrief is held individually with each party (and employers if relevant). (Up to 1 hour)
Commonly only one mediation session is required for issues and solutions to be explored. For complex matters or where additional work is required, our fees are $300.00 per hour. Fees are usually split evenly between parties or in some circumstances are paid by a third party, for example an employer.
Please note, we can discuss venue hire and travel fees if video conferencing is not utilised.
Flexibility – We offer after hours conferences and mediations at no extra cost.
*HLMS does not conduct family law mediations.
