Hawkins Legal and Mediation Services (HLMS) is a Geelong based law firm that provides exceptional and flexible legal services in the areas of Intervention Orders and Mediation.

Principal Lawyer and  Mediator, Sam Hawkins holds over a decade of legal experience practising in the community legal sector and private practice, where he worked with some of the most socially and economically disadvantaged clients experiencing mental health, drug, alcohol and homelessness issues. During this time, Sam developed experience in a broad range of practice areas, including appearing in over 600 Intervention Order applications at the Children’s and Magistrates’ Courts in Geelong and Colac. This experience has led to Sam’s thorough understanding of the Family Violence Protection Act 2008 (Vic) and Personal Safety Intervention Orders Act 2010 (Vic) and the relation between Family Violence and Family Law issues.

Sam prides himself on his patience and understanding of client needs. He understands that good communication can help resolve many issues, and this led to him offering a mediation service from early 2019. With this experience, HLMS was born, a unique legal firm that provides exceptional and flexible legal services, regarding all aspects of the Intervention Order process, from first mentions to contested hearings. Sam also mediates across a broad range of areas, including issues in the workplace, disputes between businesses and individuals.

When not working, Sam enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring new restaurants, travelling far and wide, and just about anything to do with cars and motorbikes.
